Email marketing is a very effective way of marketing. 64% of small businesses use email marketing to reach new customers.

It’s a very popular way of marketing. 4 out of 5 marketers said they’d rather give up social media than email marketing. And, 78% of marketers have seen an increase in email engagement over the last 12 months.

So, we now know you’ll choose email marketing as your marketing strategy, the question now is when is the best time to send a marketing email? In this post, we’ve collected that information for you!

When is the best day to send a marketing email?

Of course, the answer to this question may vary depending on what your company does. You’ll need to have an understanding of who your target audience is and what they like.

First, let’s go through some facts. Weekends tend to be the least effective days to send out emails. Although that is what the statistics say, you should keep in mind that if your target is, for example, a clothing purchase, maybe the weekends work better for you.

Always keep in mind the demographics of your subscribers. That can affect whether you send emails on Sundays or not. For example, in the US, Sundays are a strict no-work day. Whilst in the Gulf states, Sunday is a workday. Seasons also affect your decision. Winter will be your best choice to get the highest open rate, due to Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Christmas. Depending on the day, subscribers use different devices so make sure your emails are optimized for all devices. That way you’ll never need to think about that.

So, what is the best day to send a marketing email? Statistics say this:

First, Tuesday is your best choice. Tuesday has the highest open rate of all weekdays. Your second choice will be Thursday. If you need a third choice that will be Wednesday, that’s because Wednesdays tend to be most consistent with good open rates and good CTR.

That means, if you only send one email a week, choose Tuesday, two emails a week, then choose Tuesday and Thursday. If you send three emails a week, choose all three listed above.

The worst day to send a marketing email will be on Saturdays or Sundays. Mondays and Fridays are not good days, but still better than weekends, so choose them if you have to.

What time during the day to send out a marketing email?

As well as the former question, this is also hard to have just one answer for. One thing is for certain, you need to keep in mind that different time zones definitely will affect your campaign’s success. There are lots of other things that affect your success. Are your emails intended for companies, you want to aim for mornings to send out your marketing emails. Around 9-10 am is the best time for that, 2-3 pm is not a good time cause that’s when most eat lunch. Working people also check their emails at home after work, around 7-10 pm.

As mentioned above, make sure your emails are optimized for all devices. I bet you check emails on your phone in bed in the morning and then check them on your desktop when you get to work. Either way, it’s very important to optimize.

Now that we know the best days and have gone through some facts, what is the best time to send a marketing email?

As said, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Wednesdays are the best days, and the best time of day for those is 10 am on all three. There are also second and third places on all of those days, listed below:

Tuesday: 10 am, 6 am, 2 pm

Thursday: 10 am, 8 pm, 6 am

Wednesday: 10 am, 2 pm, 8 pm

If you still want to send marketing emails on other days, the best time is 10 am on all days of all week!

The worst time is anytime at night, especially on the weekend.

Summary

All in all, your best bet will be to send it out on Tuesdays at 10 am. If you send two, then choose Thursdays at 10 am as your second option and for three emails choose Wednesdays at 10 am as your third option.

Remember that not every good day that we’ve mentioned is guaranteed to be good for you and your company, but you can go far with this knowledge and soon you will build your own perfect plan!
