A subscribers list is a list of your subscribers, the ones that you subscribe to your emails, obvious right? By building this list we refer to collecting those email addresses and by doing that, you’ll make your company grow.

Statistics show that by 2025 there will be 4.6 billion email users, that’s more than half of the world’s population. This means you’ve got more than plenty to collect for your subscriber list. But how do we do this? We’re going to tell you that now!

Building your subscriber list isn’t all that easy. Let’s go through some facts. You’ll need an engaged subscriber list to get the best out of email marketing. That is the best asset for your company because it’s a part of owned media. That means a media channel that your company has full control over. Owned media is a much more cost-effective way of marketing, and it’s immune to sudden algorithm changes. Even if your company’s email gets, for example, red-flagged, your email list stays safe!

You need to be patient because building your list takes time and a good strategy. It will be worth it. Did you know that email marketing return of investment (ROI) is 4200%? That means you get $42 for every $1 spent. Those statistics make it worth putting time and effort into it. If you want to make it as effective as possible, you’ve come to the right place. Here follows some tips for you!

Embedded sign-up forms

These are forms embedded on your website. You put them where they’re visible, but still humble and not in the way. They can be put in sidebars, footers, and headers. By doing this you’ll give visitors a nice reminder.

Pop-ups are good

Even if you’ve heard people complain about pop-ups, they generate good ratings. Imagine you’re on a website doing some shopping and a pop-up gives you the chance for a 30% discount and all you have to do is subscribe to their newsletter, you would do it, right?

It’s important to remember that there are guidelines when it comes to pop-ups, if you don’t follow those you may risk getting a penalty.

Use interactive gameplay

So-called gamification. You’ll get a bigger list by having some kind of game for winning discounts and such. Games can be for example spin-to-win or scratchcards. Prices can be everything from a discount to a gift, or free shipping.

Squeeze pages

A squeeze page is squeezed in on your website, makes sense right? They’re used to generate subscribers by offering some kind of discount if visitors subscribe. This page prevents the visitor from navigating your website, to navigate they need to either convert or exit.

Notification sign-up

By making visitors sign up for notifications, you’ll gather even more subscribers. The notifications can be for sales, new collections/features, and back in stock.

Guides and catalogs

Offer your visitors a premium chance for an exciting guide or catalog, all they need to do is give you their email addresses. This can also be all sorts of stuff: a guide for how to use a product or a catalog of your new collection.

Opt-ins

Opt-ins are a great way of building your subscriber list. By putting them in the right place you’ll make your list big. Place opt-ins on your checkout page and offer your visitors to get emails about offers and such.

Loyalty programs

Loyalty programs are perfect to drive and repeat purchases. Make sure you have great rewards for your customers otherwise they’ll just skip it.

Another good way to drive business is to give customers a chance at a discount for themselves and a friend, by signing up with both their own and their friend’s email addresses.

With these tips, you’ll notice differences in your mailings for sure. Now go and update your strategies and we’ll see you in our next post!
